Production Diary

08/06/2010 - I researched ideas for the production in the form of a mind map. I also looked at adverts on YouTube for inspiration. I finally decided i wanted to produce an advert on fashion and started researching different products that would be interesting, fun and challenging to advertise. I decided on Fashion TV, a TV programme on the World of Fashion.

10/06/2010 - I watched the programme that i am advertising and took notes about the way it is presented and advertised. I started thinking of how i could advertise it and came up with three ideas. The one i chose i felt really set the right idea of Fashion TV. I began planning out the advert to see what could work and what wouldn't work. A lot of planning came back to the question; what are the audiences perception of this interview going to be? and is the point strong enough?

14/06/2010 - I looked at examples on the Internet of adverts that had some sort of similarity to my own idea. I found that they were interesting and some ideas would work well in my advert.

15/06/2010 - I filled out the SWOT analysis.

16/06/2010 - I started to produce my presentation detailing all my research notes, SWOT analysis etc.

21/06/2010 - I began to plan out my time for production and asked the people i wanted to be involved if they could do certain dates

23/06/2010 - I planned out what shots i wanted and roughly what camera angles they were going to be. I decided it would be a good idea to plan out the approximate time of each shot as my advert is quite long and i wanted to see what could and couldn't be cut out.

27/06/2010 - After knowing exactly what shots i wanted, i began storyboarding. Some shots were difficult to get the camera angle right and show the correct perspective on a piece of paper.

02/06/2010 - Today i began planning the outfits for the actors. i had a rough idea in my head as to what i wanted but the range is so big it is hard to pick a lot of clothes, that will compliment each other throughout the entire production.

09/06/2010 - i looked into different make-up styles on the Internet and found some interesting pictures in magazines. I noted all these down in my production folder.

13/06/2010 - I went to all the locations that i will be filming in. I did this to check that the camera can be placed in the right angles and still capture what i want it to. I also checked for safety hazards and filled out a Recce form.

23/06/2010 - Today i will be photographing each of the outfits for one the actors to plan what outfits should be worn and when. This will also enable me to be more sufficient, organised and productive on the day.

27/06/2010 - Today i filmed the shots for my advert. It went well, but there was a lot of changing for each scene which was extremely time consuming. The camera i was using wouldn't focus on close up shots which ultimately changed some of the angles and length of each one, making my storyboard a little inaccurate.

28/06/2010 - Today i uploaded my video to iMovie HD. I cut down and pieced together the advert. All i need to do for editing, is transitions and then the music. The way that i pieced it together is not in the order of the storyboard but all the shots are there.

02/07/2010 - Today i added Video FX to my advert. I used slow motion in 3 or 4 shots and it looked really good. I went to add transitions but the files are corrupt and i was unable to use any. I began adding music instead with Garage Band. I'm really happy with how the sound turned out. I added an alien feel to it and it worked really well with the image of the advert.

05/07/2010 - I wanted to retry adding in transitions so i decided to give it another go. Unfortunately it still wasnt working. I decided to tweak the video as much as i could to make the lack of transitions work. Thankfully i think it flows quite nicely.

07/07/2010 - I attempted to upload my video to blogger but unfortunately it was having troubles uploading so instead i emailed it to Chris. I will try again to upload it to blogger tommorow.

09/07/2010 - Today i showed my advert to 3 different people of different gender and age. I then recieved feedback from them. I then evaluated my work
